NYCC 2024
A large-scale collaborative art installation built for a dense, fast-moving convention floor.
At New York Comic Con 2024, LETSMAKIT featured multiple collaborative canvases positioned directly within a high-traffic booth environment. The installation included artwork celebrating the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 40th Anniversary, alongside canvases featuring Shadow the Hedgehog, Mega Man X, Ryu, and an original cartoon rat enjoying a New York slice of pizza.
Attendees moved continuously through the space, often stopping briefly to contribute before rejoining the flow of the show. Participation emerged organically across all four days, with engagement skewing toward teenagers, alongside families and longtime fans of the featured properties. Many participants added just a few numbered sections at a time, while others returned later to continue or observe the artwork as it developed.
The installation required no facilitation or explanation. Clear color guides and an intuitive grid system allowed contributors of all ages to participate immediately, whether standing, kneeling, or working alongside friends and family. Over the course of the event, hundreds of short interactions accumulated into completed pixel-style artworks that evolved visibly in real time.
LETSMAKIT functioned continuously within a compact footprint, remaining approachable, visually compelling, and active throughout the convention.
